World Water Day – a Story of Dedication and Tenacity

March 22, 2021

Hydroflux being a specialist sustainable water and wastewater group, know only too well the enormously complex task that faces us all in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030.

We also recognise that sometimes what is needed is not just engineering and science but dedication and tenacity.

In conversation around the office kitchen we recently became aware of the truly remarkable achievements of a staff members relative, Mr Kenneth McLeod who played a pivotal role in the development of the India MK II hand pump.

The India MK II hand pump is the most widely used well hand pump in the world with over 5 million installed worldwide by the 1990’s and is still the most commonly used hand pump today supplying 100’s of millions of people essential water daily. Unfortunately Kenneth passed away early last year, but his remarkable story of dedication and tenacity can be read here.
